Birds

30/09/16

In Area 4 this morning Paul Bright Thomas was out in his Area 4 garden, a Chiffchaff was heard calling , also 7 Meadow Pipit flew over.

25/09/16

Over the Area 10 landfill site a Hobby and Peregrine were seen by Fraser Cottington.

23/09/16

200 Swallow flew over the car park field in 1.5 hrs. Several Meadow Pipit were heading S and 3 Raven were seen by Fraser Cottington.

On what is officially the first day of Autumn in Area 5, not much to report , 4 noisy Herring Gull flew over calling, in the afternoon a Buzzard and Red Kite were seen in quick succession. A Nuthatch was visiting the bird feeders and a Wren was working it way through my front hedge.

11/09/16

Whilst removing invasive grass from the pond in Area 5 this morning, 4 Common Buzzard were circling on the thermals. A Blackcap was alarm calling from a nearby bush and several noisy Jays were moving through the trees.

Area 5 and Ring necked Parakeet flew over calling.

08/09/16

At 17:00 a minimum of 6 House Martin were drifting slowly S over Area 5. In Area 10 Fraser Cottington came up trumps with an early morning Little Stint on the scrape by Bittern hide at Lavells Lake.

Redstart Found again by Adam Bassett in Area 10, a male and female Redstart were feeding in the bushes and sitting on the fence at the bottom of the car park field.Photo courtesy of Adam Bassett.

Green Woodpecker Kestrel In Area 10 in the car park field a Green Woodpecker was hanging off the telegraph pole and a Kestrel wasitting on the wires. A male Redstart wasfound by Fraser Cottington on the fence at the bottom of the carpark field

At 20:30 approxiamately 25 Canada Goose flew through the dusk in Area 5 heading for their roost on Windmill Pond.

In Area 10 Marek Walford was out and about agian with another or the same Lesser Whitethroat at the bottom of the car park field and a Wheatear on the a vent on the landfill at the bottom of the car park field.

In Area 4 Paul Bright Thomas was out in his garden this morning and seen were a Cormorrant , Grey Heron ,a juvenille Willow Warbler , Rook and Chiffchaff . In Area 10 Marek Walford had a Lesser Whitethroat at the bottom of the car park field and a Coal Tit and a Nuthatch in the wood adjacent to the car park.

Straw Dot Riband Wave Again around my Area 5 porch light were Straw Dot Rivula sericealis and Riband Wave Idaea aversata moths.In Area 8 a Hawthorn Shieldbug Rivula sericealis was on the wing mirror of my car.

Common Wainscott Common Rustic On my return home a Common Wainscott Mythimna pallens and a Common Rustic Mesapamea secallis moth were on my front door light.

On my way home at 22:45 in Area 8 a Red Fox Vulpes vulpes was seen runniong across Old Forest Road.

In Area 5 this morning at 04:05 a Red Fox Vulpes vulpes was seen moving between the front gardens of Brookside in the rain.
